At the center of the series is Focal’s patented Flax cone, with a layer of genuine linen between two extremely thin layers of fiberglass. The linen of Flax cones is twice as light as fiberglass and this construction has made the cones as rigid as possible without sacrificing lightness. These features ensure clean, colorless and natural reproduction. FLAX cones have been manufactured since 2013. A new innovation in mid-basses is the use of butyl TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) suspension. It helps control the element while keeping playback neutral and linear regardless of volume.
The M-shaped cone of TAM tweeters made of a combination of aluminum and magnesium is familiar from Focal's flagship UTOPIA collection. All structural solutions have been made in terms of acoustics and sound reproduction.
All FLAX EVO series speakers and subwoofers are designed and manufactured by hand at Focal's own factory in France. This guarantees top quality and consistent quality. Focal’s way is to be a step ahead of its competitors, not to imitate them.
Focalin FLAX EVO series offers 4 different types of 6.5 "speakers. PS165F3E 3-way component in addition to the basic model is available PS165FE equipped, flat hull PS165FSE and most robust PS165FXE with higher performance woofer and versatile crossover.
Focal FLAX EVO PS165FE 6.5 "standalone set
The PS165FE is the basic model of the FLAX EVO series. Thanks to its small size, the crossover filter, which is integrated into the cables and is made of very high-quality parts, is easy to install and has its own level control for the treble. The tweeter has both a tilted surface mounting cup and the needs for flush mounting. The treble can also be disassembled really small for attachment to the location of the car's original element. Outstanding quality materials, a finished look and technical solutions make this series a premium-level stand-alone series. Due to its high sensitivity, it can even be driven directly with the player, but you get the real character and performance when used with a separate amplifier.
